TWO VOYAGES

When I and my love were wedded, Love walked

with us hand in hand, But in an unhappy hour he left U9 and

flew away , So we launched the vessel of Doubt upon, the

Sea of Distrust, And sailed on a \oyage that Listed for many

a weary day

And we journeyed on and on, till we came to

the edge of the world — ■ To the brink of that vast abyss where the

seething wntprs are hurled Into tbe boihnp, foaming, and ever-restless Sea Of Despair, where the black waves shall leap till the end of the world shall be!

And whilp we fayed, spellbound, at the moan

ing waters there, We lipard a voice from t*icir depths that

thrilled in a wavering call "Oh l ye that are sailing there on this fathom-

less ocean's brink, Take heed lest ye come toe near, lest over the edge ye fall 1 "

Then, stricken with untold fear, we headed the

vessel about ; But darkness had wrapped us round, and we

prayed for a guiding light, And Love, with his luminous pinions, came flying, and sat in the bows, And back to the haven ~>i Peace he guided

♦Yip ship aright. And never again shall we sail away in the

ves=er of Doubt, Xor again at the edge of th-e world shall we look on the Sea of Despair; We afe sailing now in the Ship of Hope, in

search of the Haven above, And Faith, together with Love, shall pilot us =afely there. —21. G. lUyteb. May 21, I'JO3.
