| importance, "furlough means a donkey. I've got a book at home that says so." "I should like to see that book," said tho sceptical teacher. "Bring it with you this afternooj." When school met in the afternoon Tommy was armed with a thick book. "Here's tho book, teacher, that told mo about ' furlough,' " he said. And opening it at a certain page he displayed a highly-coloured representation of a eoldier mounted on a donkey, which bore the inscription, "Going Home on His Furlough."
