Notes from Roxburgh.
(Faoii Ova Owx Cobbe9pondent.) ROXBURGH, May 6. The river is still about lft higher than it •was a week ago. The weather is fine however, and tho nights are frosty, so that it should econ go down again. The rise in the river and the quantity of drift travelling has caused the manager of the Endeavour dredge to s-top work at present. He is engaged to-day letting out the ladder extension as his ground is very deep. The Teviot dredge is to-day being slutted archer up the river, as there was nothing whero eke was operating, and the ground was rather shallow. May 8. Both the Teviot and Endeavour dredges will '«tart work again on Sunday night. Duriug the week the screen of the Golden Gate dredge has been repaired by new plates having been put in, otherwise tins dredge has ■been working steadily. , The Golden Bed dredge is now being workecl out into the river again. It is the intention of the management to test the bottom end of their claim as soon as the dredge can be taken there. There is every probability of a party of men taking over the sluicing claim of the Golden Run Company and working it on tribute.
