Prices have advanced as far as last week's returns -war- | ranted, and those desirous of taking up share* ! are no doubt waiting to ascertain something about the prospects for the present week bftfore they operate. The morning call was exceedingly quiet, no business being done at all, and in the afternoon only three parcels of shares changed hands. A sale of Fourteen-mile Beach! preference shares was made at 20s, one of Electrics at 42s 6d, and one of Mokoia ordinary shares at 21s 6d. The two last-named stocks wore a good deal firmer in consequence of th£ p handsome returns for last week; and Davis'a Bends, which company' 3 No. 1 dredge has now made a start, also showed a alight improvement

as far as the- paid-up shares were concerned. Hartley and Hiieya and Inchdales were very steady, while Junction Electrics and Majesties ■were inclined to harden. Rise and Shines and Sailor's Bends were also steady. The neignt of the river at Alexandra was 4ft lOin above the normal mark, and the weather was fine. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.
