I shall be glad if you will inform him, in reply, ; that Sir H. Jackson, the newly-appointed j Governor of Fiji, has already been asked I to report on the question of giving more ! effective representation in the Legislative Council to the European residents, and that his attention will be drawn to the other pointa raised by Mr Seddon, in particular to the desirability cf improving communications by opening tip the lower reaches of tho riveT3 and by a more ex- i tended construction of roads and bridges. ' Mr Seddon will appreciate the fact that it i 3 necessary to move cautiously in dealing with matters of such importance to the future of Fiji. He may rest asur&ed that his suggestions will receive full considcra-
