SOUTHLAND AGRICULTURAL NOTES.

(Fkom Oub Own Coebrspondknt.') May 4. The very fine weather experienced for a week came to an end on Friday evening, when a thick, fiaxo rain came on at about 5 p.m. A little over half an inch fell that night, the total up to this morning being .86in. There was a drenching rain on Saturday and also ycstcrciay occasionally. This morning is fine, and the weather looks like clearing. Tho wind was easterly for some days before the rain jarne on, and it has been from the same quarter since. The rain has been untimely, as a great deal of crop was in good order for stacking, but it is unlikely that it has done much harm. I am informed by several farmers that they had to stop threshing from the stook as thf^ grain was soft, ia? some oases "milky." and that they .egTet having encouraged the mill owners to pull out so soon. It is unwise also to thresh from the stack until the stuff has stood a few weeks. Recently-cut vhafT i.i also heating. Dingoes are giving a lot of trouble to the cattle ien in North Queensland. One large owner stated lately that 50 per coif. of the calves dropped this season in his district had been eaten by thorn because tho cows were too weak to defend them. Even some of ths grown steers were being attacked; he had seen nine dingoes attacking one weak one quite recrntly. Mr \V. R. DUXLOP, Wolf Creek, Ala., •mites : "An attack of measles had left my son with the MOST AGGRAVATING OOUGH I EVEB HEARD His mother began giving him Jayne's Expectorant. By the tim he had taken one bottle, and started on the second, HE WAS ENTIRELY CURED."
