would have been extremely inconvenient to have to make the journey to Adelaide, as he has a string of eight horses, in his stables, stated before a notary publio to what extent he is mixed up in the matter. Briefly put, he has sent a sworn statement that ho had nothing further to do with Evening Wonder after the horse left his stable, beyond giving permission, to Mr Tennant that the horse could run in his (Rutledge'e) name. This is what any trainer might do for a client, and Rutledge tent away his statement before he received official notice that the olub wished him to appear before them. I understand that Mr Tennant will apply for an adjournment of the case, as the date cm -which they were cited to appear renders it almcst impossible to either appear personally or send evidence that would reach the South Australian club on the date stipulated. In connection with the matter it may bo stated that H. Carr was never engaged to go with the horse, and prior to the nominations going id it was stated in these columns that the horse would be nominated and that Carr would probably accompany him. Carr bad one ride only on Evening Wonder, and that wa.? in the race which the gelding won at the Wingatui t,ummer meeting.
