May 4.— The unexpected break in the weather during the p^t few days will retard to a considerable extent tho pursuance of harvesting operations. Weeds.— The Agiicultural Department has had quito a little army of men cutting and destroying nox.ous weeds on Crown lands arcl reserves, the re:ult of which prudent policy will he fully noticeable in spring and early summer. Land for Sale.— Auo-hor block of tho Seaward Moss country is open f<u- selection under the Lands Department, ai.d anyone requiring a swamp-turkey plantation or a sanctuary for swans should apply, at once. Scholastic. — The school committee elections passed off quietly in this and the surrounding d'striets little or no interest beir.g taken in them Educational or literary matters, as a iu!e, arc suTonnded with apathy by a lural community at anyrate; hence the lamentiib'e state of primary education at the present day. Land 'or Sa^e.— Considerable district picperty is in the market at present, but whether this is a sign of prosperity or otherwise I am not going to say.
