Conscience Troubled Him.
Before a petty sessional court recently a, somewhat novel application was made by a local celebrity rejoicing in the name of William Wobbles. "Your WRshups," he began, speaking with the air of one who was well acquainted with the courts, "I apply to this 'ere Court o' Summaiy Jurisdiction for the eancelisation of the conscientious wa\ination exemption etifcate whioh your aforesaid washups in the due exercise of your discretion granted to me at your last aittin'. My conscience " "Is elastic," interposed^ the chairman; "we can't entertain suoh an application." Wobbles: "My conscience " The Chairman : "Call the next case." Wobbles : "I was goin' to say, your wasl.ur " The Chairman : "Next case, please." Wobbles : "But I'm a goim' to have my say. Look 'ere" (producing vaccination certificate and waving it above his head contemptuously) — "look 'ere ; this is the Gtifcate I got from ye the last time I \fas 'ere, .and I tell ye I'm a-goin' to have my childer waxinated in spite on't — in spite on't, co I tell yel"
