Sir,— At a public meeting held in Christchurch on the 18th of March, oh the motion of the Hon. C. C. Eowen it was resolved to erect a statue in memory of the Hon. "William, Rolleston. It is believed that there are many persona in the provincial district of Otr.go and Southland who would gladly take naxt in this movement. Although it is quite fitting that sucha memorial should be placed in Christchurch. yet all who value those high qualities for which Mr Rolleston was distinguished would consider it p. privilege to assist in doing honour to his memory. It is as n colonial statesman, distinguished not onbr by wisdom- and liberality. ' but above all by absolute integrity, purity, and singleness of purpose, that Mr Eolleston's memory will be perpetuated. It is in the belief that you would desire lo be identified with this movement that you are invited 1c enter your name as a subscriber to thp " Rolleston Memorial Fund."
