THE SCOTTISH CHIEF GOLD DREDGINGCOMPANY'S MACHINERY.

Our Lawrence correspondent writes: — At his sole rooms here on Friday, under instructions from the liquidator, Mr J. C. Arbuckle offered by auction the dredging machinery and timber belonging to the Scottish Chief Gold Dredging Company. There was a good attendance of gentlemen interested in mining, and the auctioneer started the sale by offering the kauri timber (about 16,000 ft) at per 100 ft. Bidding' started at ss, and after good competition waa secured by Mr B. Pilling, jun. (as agent for the Nugent Wood Dredging Company) at 15s 6d per 100 superficial feet. The bluegum was then, offered, and fell to the bid of Mr H. H. Leary (as agent for .a dredging company). The -' machinery was sold in one lot, and was- bought by Mr George Leslie (on behalf of a syndicate) for £500. It has now been placed in the hands of Mr "Win. Adams for private sale.
