(a) A very prettily played ending from thia point; Anderson plays 1 5, leading also to a draw. (I.) In the second game, Halliwell (Black) varied! at this point, and won as follows: —
(a) 22 18, is the best line for a draw at thia point. (b) Bad; 3 7 would probably haw drawn. (c) From bad to worse; there appears to be no draw for White after this move. , (d) If 11 7,211, 815,1 6, etc., wins for Black.* Game 6393.—" Souter." Third Game!
(a) An old, trappyJine of tho "Souter"; if Black crowns the piece by 25-29, he loses: (I.) In the fourth game, Halliwell (Black) varied at this point, and the game was continued aa follows: —
(a) An old "book" draw; Black, though » man up, can do nothing. , Gamo 6394.—" Second Double Corner."Fifth Game.
(a)^ 7 11 would have given Black an easjj draw. (b) Tho only move to-draw. (c) An unfortunate slip; the ending has been, well played to this point.
