In these towns we put on "Man to Man, ' "The Caristian," and "The Sign of tho Cross," the complete manner these vere staged and the excellent scenery and effects bringing" great praise from press and public. Miss GUI has several new attractions which ■will be produced shortly, including ivfine drama entitled "The French . Spy," which has been. vi>ry successful in Australia; and- "The Romany Eye," one of Mr Rignold's best things, and "Nancy and Her Sailor," also Mr Rignold's, which is now in readiness, and will be produced during the forthcoming Wellington sea- . eon.— Yours with all good wishes, CHAS. ' Dear Pasquin, — Being an observer at tho Scottish concert' on the 28th February. I noticed a small lad of seven years, a violinist, Master Victor Harris, of Woodville, who is undoubtedly a marvel; his masters state that ha is already beyond them. Master Harris is not inly the youngest violinist whr has performed here, but the youngest who has succeeded in passing the local centre musical examination of the Assot dated Board of the Royal Academy of Musio and Royal College of Music, which he did without having sat for any preliminary examination. I am forwarding his photo,, which you .might kindly insert in your valuable paper, as J think if some scheme could be set nfloat to raise funds to send this child Home it would be -to thfi interasts of New Zealand.— Yours faithfully, ALFRED HA.YHURST '

The art union recently 'held by the Gar-> rison Band at Wanganui shows a profit Of £346 — an unqualified succcs3. As pipe stem the Turks prefer the wood of the jessamine, although they make them of every wood. It is not uncommon for the luxurious Turk tp send for the branch of a rosebud, order his servant to bore the stem, and then hand the pipe to his aucafc Mnom* ins with fracxant roses.
