PRESENTATIONS.
A very pleasing function took place on Sunday morning after mass, when Mr AlbeTt Vallis, organist and choirmaster of St. Joseph's Cathedral, was the recipient of an illuminated address and purse of sovereigns as a slight token of the esteem in which he is held bjt-*he members of the choir. Bishop Verdon, in a very appropriate speech, referred to the pleasure it gave him in being asked to make the presentation, and also testified to the excellent qualities of Mr Vallis as a musician, and wished him continued success and prosperity in the future. Messrs P. Carohn, J. Connor, and J. Woods also referred to the advance the choir had made during the 10 years Mi Vallis had been associated with it, this success being due in a great measure to the untiring an-d painstaking efforts of their worthy organist and choirmaster. Mr Vallis, in a few wellchosen words, thanked the bishop aud members for their handsome gifts and kind expressioi ■ of feeling contained in the address, and alfeo urged upon the members the necessity of pulling together and working hard in the future, thereby maintaining the position St. Joseph's Gho.r now holds in our city.
