Dunedin BURNS CLUB.

The Dunedin Burns Club held their monthly gathering at the Choral Hall on "Wednesday, when the building was comfortably filled. Mr J. J. Ramsay (president) occupied the chair. A3 usual an enjojable and highly-appreciate programme of musical and other iteniß was gone through. The address of the evening "'was delivered by the Rev: W. A. Sinclair, who chose as his subject the time-honoured one of " Scottish Wit and Humour." Very high'y pleasing was Miss- May, Donaldson's violin solo " Amang tho heather' (Mackenzie), and her encore number was still better. Mr P. EadieV recitations completely hit the taste of his lis_teners l 'a£nd he was'constrained to give no less than Songa were contributed by Miss Smaill, " Roy's wife of Aldrvalloch," " Doon the burn, and ■" O 1-afPy bird"; Mr J. Robertson "Battle of Stirling" and another; and Mr A. Dempster " Out on the desp." Mr B. A. De Lautonr andl party contributed »d instrumental quartet, '• Scotia," and the. Duaedm Fife and Druml Band play-ed a march in good style, Pipeo Mtiklejohn's bagpipe music opening proceed"* li'gs. The choir, under Mr W. R. Don, their cocductor, rendered acceptably the part songs '• Flora M Donald's lament, ' " The slippy stane," " Oh, hush thee my bzby, " and "tlfe "' Skye boat song." Miss E. Wright, es usual, acted as accompanist, and the singing of " Auld • lang syne " brought the gathering to a close.
