A man named Pitavy, a minsr from th« Upper Thames district, committed suicid* in Aucklaud this evening by jumping from a window on the first floor of the \ ictoria Hotel to the pavement, a distance of about 16ft. He is supposed to have had a delusion that he was not in good health, though a doctor pronounced him heallhy. Mr J. S. Allender, one of the proprietors of the Petone Soapworks, fell iuto a tank of boiling lees on Wednesday afternoon. He was so badly scalded that he died nexfc morning. The skeleton of a man was discovered by two boys on the tandhilfe at Burwood (Canterbury). The skeleton is fully clothed, with thp- exception of a coat, and was found ia a sitting position. A young man named Leydon was driving tuo sisters to o'lurch at Stratford, when the hors© became unmanageable and went off the side of the road among the logs. The girls were bumped off on to t^e road, ivcl Leydon was thrown into a barbed wire fence, and had his right leg tery badly torn. One of the girls had her teeth knocked out.
