ITEMS FROM THE MINES RECORD.
The Mines Record states that up to the 31st l&trch, 1902, there was entered for export at the principal ports in New Zealand 15,163,1890z of gold, valued at £69,636,582. From tli<? Ist ApriL 1857, to the 81st December, 1901, gold was exporied from the various districts of the colony as follows: — Auckland, £10,512,866; Marlborough, £338,498; Nelson, £1,053.202; West Coast, £-24.160,016; Otago and Southland, £23,093,781; Wellington, £1014; Canterbury, JE476.
.Up to the end of May, 3902, the total production of the great Waihi mine amounted to £2,178,010, out of which the shareholders received in dividends £888,805. The amount paid on the new issue of shares, and included in the total, is £10,410.
The solicitors for Mr P. D. Bolting, -who applied for one month's free water from the Government water race at Naseby, have been informed that, in accordance with the rule laid down when payment in advance was required, one month's free water we; allowed to the person who held the claim which Mr Sotting has since acquired, and no further allowance of free water can now be granted to the present holder, aa it would form a precedent for others.
