The Price of Rabbits. TO THE EDITOR
Sir,— There seems to be great and w.de-piead dissatisfaction at the price now offered for rabbits It is well known that the rause lies m the fact that a number of exporters have secured the monopoly of the space set apart in the freezing works for storing rabbits. The great trouble with the combinations of capital is that the interests of the workers aie entirely lgi ored. The only 'alternative is for the rabbitei* to combine and insist on receiving a fair price for the:r rabbits— say 6cl per pair for rabbits 21b and over. If the exporters refuse this little concession the rabbiters will have to skin their catches, and will probably average as good wages as with the present low price for carcases. The rabbilf's life is necessarily a hard one, and his earnings very mui-h dependent on the weather, and consequently irregular — I am, etc , Fair play. Otakala. April 14.
