The demand for Australian butter is now over, th€»',ast vessel foi the season having arrived. V ith New Zealand the case is different, Temark Messrs Weddel. During the past week New Zealand butter has not been in =ucli request as it was, but this is true of all butter. Retailers are naturally anxious not to follow the high prices prevailing, hoping for a fall in values; but it looks very much as if they would be disappointed, for, though there is a temporary elulness, there :s not enough best quality butter outside of New Zealand to meet the consumptive demand. The '" finest is here quoted at 106 a to 110s; good to tine at 98s to 101s. For chee«c there is a good demand, and a considerable trade is passing, while prices show some improvement.
