A LETTER FROM TROOPER JACK.

UEW ZEALAND TENTH CONTINGENT. Addington Camp, Christchurch, April 9. Deal Dot, — It is many years since I wrote to you before, but I thought I would wnte before I left New Zealand. I have been accepted for the Tenth Contingent, and hope that we shall be sent away. There are a good many Dunedin boys with us, and among them a large percentage of returned troopers ; in fact, nearlyall the returned troopers are fiom Otago. It ■was a pity that it rained when we were leaving Dunedin, for rain always damps enthusiasm, but no doubt we shall get a warmer •welcome home. At Hampden we got a very good reception — the best, in f?ct, that we got at anj place we passed. The girls thero went all along the carriages shaking hands with all, one old lady, with tears in her eyes, haying, " God biess you, boys , my own son v/ould be with you if he was old enough. ' These, little evidences of kindly fee l ing are very cheering to a fellow when gonig away. I have no time to write more, and there is another fellow to wuba as goon, aa 1 am luushed. Mx

Falconer kindly supplies us with all stationery. With your approval I shall write again.— Yours truly, TROOPER JACK. [We shall all be glad to hear from Tiooper Jack whenever he feels inclined to write. He neglecteel to send a norn de plume, so I lime selected his Christian name. — DOT.]
