THE OTAGO DISTRICT FIRING COMPETITION. The foilowir.e aie the principal results of the firing competition for the medals of the Otago district, including Oamaru ancl Southland - Corporal M'Kenzie (Queen's Rifles, Oamaru) 108 posits, Lance-corporal Cocper (Wakan Rifles) 102, Sergeant Shanks (Gore Rifles) 100, Serg-eaut Pool (Dunedin Rifles) 98, Private Dippie (North Dunedin Rifles) 95, Private Keay (Southland Mounted Hifle«) P4, Private Kelly (Goie Rifles) 91, Sergeant Spieis (Wu:taki Mounted Rifles) 01, Coipoial Yardley (Dtuitroon Rifles) S9, Private M'Cormack (Wmlon Rifles) SO, Pnvate Jones (Wakan. Rifles) 83, Corporal Jacobs (Duneelm Engineers) 83, Sergeant Moss (Dunedin City Guards) 89. There were over 50 cODipetitors altogether, ancl the distances were 300, 600. and 700 yards. It, would appear that Timaru takes both medilff for the South Island, for, firing on Thursday last, under perfect condition 0 , one volunteer made 112 and another 109 out of 120.
