I ever, the greater part Las been stacked in various conditions. Some, I fear, will be heated more or less, but what has been stacked dry I don't think will be much' discoloured, as the damage done is principally on the outi side. A few lots were got in before the unj settled weather came, and in these cases I ex- ! pect th 3 grain will be of a good colour, and I will command a satisfactory price. The mill ! has started threshing, but, of course, the weather has delayed operations a good deal. So far, I understand, the \'ield has been good, with very fair samples. Freezers. — Mr Murray has been aiound looking for fat lambs, but from what I can gather he won't gat so many fit for his requirements as on former occasions. I understand he is prepared to give a good price for good lambs. Perhaps later ort we may be able to supply him to butter advantage, after the lambs have had ths benefit oi the stubble. School. —We aie about to lo=e Mr Gow, oxir school teacher, which is much to be regretted, as he has proved himself most efficient in his j profession, with sound principles and a mind j to carry them on. I understand Mr Gow is | leaving the service. This is most unfortunate, as such men can be ill afforded. In bidding Mr and Mrs Gow good-bye, we all wish them j every prosperity and happiness in their new ', home and sphere. j Football.— Our young men have again started j thair football season, but I am not quite suie ! if they are so well up in this game as in I cricket. However, with practice, they will, no dcubt, hold their own pretty well. In the match against Clinton they met with a shght defea*. _^-
