THE EIGHTH CONTINGENT. REPORTED TRAIN ACCIDENT. NO DETAILS TO HAND. AUCKLAND, April 14.
It is reported that a private cable hns teen received stating that 13 men of tho Eighth Contingent were killed in a railway accident, and many others injured. No further particulars are to hand. It is understood the Governor has received iv cable confirming the rumour regarding a train disaster in which some of the Eighth Contingent were killed, but up to midnight details were not obtainable. WELLINGTON, April 14. The Government ha 3 received no information regarding the reported railway accident in which the Eighth Contingent are said to have suffered. Sir J. G. Ward has, however, cabled to Capetown for particulars.
