ROBBERY UNDER ARMS. OVER £1000 STOLEN.
ADELAIDE, January 23.
A sensational highway robber^ took place at Port Adelaide at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Mr Greenaway, the general manager of Block Fourteen Mining Company's works, and Mr Winter, the assitanfc manager, were driving from the bank to the works with a bag containing £1232, with which to pay the men's wages. Just before they reached the works two mounted masked men rode up ; and ordered them to bail uj>, Wiu-
ter continued driving, when one of the horsemen drew a revolver and t>hot the horse. Greenawny and Winter were thrown out, the former being stunned, and Winter injured in the leg. Winter attorn ptcd to draw his revolver, but was covered by a revolver and compelled to put up Ins hands. The robbers then .secured tiie money and galloped off. The police are pursuing them. Greeuaway's injuries necessitated his lemoval to the hospital. Mr Winter fired j-.evoral shots at the robbers as they fled. It is believed that they are making for tho ranges to the east of Adelaide. They are splendidly mounted*
