Interest was added to the inter-State cricket match between Victoria and New Soutli Wxles through the inclusion in both teams of a number of colts to fill the places of veterans engaged in the test match in Adelaide, who were not able to get back in time. New South Wales in their first innings made 327. Scores : — C. Gregory, 60 ; Hopkins, 117; Farquhar, 35; Poidevin, 82; Pite, 13 ; Kermode, 7 ; Mears Carter, Clarke, M'Beth, and Cotter, nil ; extras, 13. Saunders took six wickets for 57 runs, Layer two for 88, Warne two for 88, Collins nil for 62, Worrall nil for 19. Victoria in their first innings liave lost no wickets for 13. Worrall is not out for '2 and M'Michael not out for 11. The partnership of Hopkins and Gregory was lno^-r brilliant, and c^ta Wisher a batting record in intercolonial matches. A fierce southerly gale has been blowing all day. and rain fell m the early morning, but the weather cleared finely before noon. The wicket was sticky.
