DUNTROON.

Januaiy 27 — This week has been very windy, heavy nor'-westers blowing continually. The harvest is fatt approaching. If the wind continues harvest work will be started by the end of this month. The grass is drying up fast.

Fat Lambs —The first draft of fat lambs left here for freezing last Thursday. They were bought by the North Otago Co-operative Company ,and railed to the Timaru Freezing Works. The price realised was 12s per head. There have been some heavy losses of lambs lately, one farmer having lost 10 in two nights, and others a good many also. The lambs seem to droj dead at once, the farmers being at a loes to account for it. So far as I can learn, weaning the lambs seems to be the only remedy, as none seem to die after weaning.
