ANNUAL SALE OF LAND ON THE WAIMEA ESTATE.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows- — Under instructions from the New Zealand Agricultural Company, Limited (.in liquidation), we held the third annual sale of freehold land on the Waimea estate at the Gore Horso Bazaar on Thursday, April 4. The farms offered were 24 in number, 15 of them agricultural, in area ranging from 21 acres to 689 acres (total, 2678 acres), and nine of them were pastoral, of areas of 639 acres to 6000 (total, 27,375 acres). With the pastoral lands were oifered some Government runs. There was a good attendance of farmers and others interested in the disposal and acquis.tion of freehold land. For the agricultural faims there was fair competition, but all of them were not sold; and this is scarcely to be wondered at in view of the very low prices ruling for all cereals at the present time. Nine of the agricultural farms, however, changed hands — say, 1926 acres — prices ranging from £2 to £4 Is per acre, and as the upset prices fixed by the company are most reasonable, it is anticipated sales of the remaining unsold farms will be effected shortly. The demand for the pastoral farms was somewhat disappointing, seeing that the company was prepared to sell aj prices at which land of similar quality cannot be bought elsewhere in the colony. Three pastoral, farms containing 6754 acres were sold at from 16s to 22s per acre. The remaining farms are excellent pastoral country, and as they are for sale to the first buyer who turns up they should not remain long in the market unsold. Appended is the complete result of the sale. —
