THE YACHT ARIADNE.

WELLINGTON, April 6.— Mr Kerry, the owner of the yacht Ariadne, which is ashore at the mouth of the Waitaki River, arrived from Sydney ■ yesterday, and intends proceeding to the south this evening.

•The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company s iteamship Kumara, Captain W. Scotland, left the Bowen pier, Port Chalmers, on the 2nd inst. for London, -*ia Wellington. Her outward cargo consisted of 897 bales ;wool, 133 do rabbitskms, 13 do sheepskins, 30 do leather, 3 do glue pieces, 48 sacks grass seed, 27 casks pelts, 50 do tallow, 6 do casings, 7451 carcases frozen lambs, 300 eases beef, 100 cases rabbits, 13 cases butter. The Union Steam Ship Company's steamehip Monowai, Captain H. W. H. Chatfield, from Melbourne, via Hobart and Bluff Harbour, arrived at the George street pier at 5' a.m. on Wednesday. She left Melbourne at 5 p.m. of March 28. " After completing the repairs to her machinery, the Union Steam Ship Company s Bteamer Whang'ap'e -left .Port Chalmers on Tuesday afternoon with cargo for Lyttelton. Two large passenger and cargo eteamers ibuilding at Belfast for the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's London and New Zealand trade are expected to be delivered this y ear __the fir3t about May. They are each 500 ft long, and of about 10,000 tons register. Their names are to be the Thenio and Corintbic. In coniunction with the other steamers of the line they will call at the Cape and Hobart en route for London. After lying-up in ordinary at Port Clialinprs for some years past, the e.s. Rmga--looma is about to again enter upon another c-u-eer of usefulness, having been purchased Jrom the Union Steam Ship Company by Mr Kunst, of Samoa, representing a syndicate, under whose auspices she will trade between Apia and Honolulu. In order to fit her for her new trade, the Ringarooma has undergone considerable alterations, and has at the same time had a comprehensive overhaul at the hands of the Union Steam Ship Company's employees. It is not a mere figure of speech to cay she will leave Port Chalmers looking as well as when she first arrived there under the command of the •late Captain John M'Lea.n. some five-and-twenty years back. The whole of the alterations and overhaul have been personally supervised on behalf of the new owners by Mr A. Morrison, late Government inspector of machinery, who is in business a? consulting engineer, and that gentleman hae l>een unremitting in his attention to her Equipments. The Ringarooma on arrival at 'Auckland will be transferred to the German Registry and change her name to that of Kamoa before proceeding to Apia to enter on her new career.

Messrs Huddart, Parker, ard Co.'s Elingajnite, from Sydney, via Auckland, arrived nt the Victoria wharf at 7 o'clock on Monday morning. She left Sydney on March 27. The s.s.Talune, from Sydney, via Wellington, arrived at the tongue wharf shortly fefter 7 o'clock on Monday morning. She 3eft Sydney at midnight on March 30. The New Zealand Shipoing Company's fine Bteamship Wakanui, under the command of Captain Croucher, from London, via the Island of Teneriffe. the Cape of Good Hope, 'Hobart, and northern port* of this colony, arrived at Port Chalmers, and was berthed at the Georgp street pier at 7 a m. on Monday, where she will discharge her Dunedin cargo, which consists of some 500 tons of weight and measurement goods.
