GORE GUN CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

GORE, April 8.A £50 pigeon match was fired under the auspices of the Gore Gun Club to-day. Four shootists killed all their birds (seven), two getting through on their double nominations. The shooting-off resulted in E. Pigeon (21iyds) being first and winning £30, with J. Boult (22£ yds) second and third prizes (£l6), and J."GraJiam (30yds) fourth (£4). Thero were 20 competitors, and in spite of a strong wind the shooting was firstclass. GOLF. Some interesting games were played on Saturday afternoon at the Balmacewen links by the Otago Golf Club. Appended are the results : —

Championship. — Third round • Todd beat Melland; 2 and 1 : J. R Scott beat J. H. Hosking, 4 and 3; Winslow beat Dr Burt, 3 and 1 , Turnbull beat W. C. MacGregor, at nineteenth hole. The round is not yet completed. Consolation Match. — First round J. M. E. Garrow, a bye ; F. M'Lean beat G. M. M'Lean, 4 and 8; A. M. Hogg beat Sle'gh, 2 up ; D. Stewart beat J. L. Salmond, 5 and 4; C. Reid beat Dr Ogston, 4 and 2; Holdsworth beat Wales, at nineteenth hole; A. Holmes beat Thomson, 8 and 6. D.A.B.C ANNIVERSARY FOURS. The final heat in the above race was rowed off on Wednesday evening. The water was again rather rough, but notwithstanding this a splendid race was witnessed. Mr J. Yates asted as starter, and after some trouble sent the four boat* away in good style. Dawson, on the beacon course, was the first to break the line, and was followed by Olsen, who occupied No. 2 position. Nearing th» upper beacon Olsen succeeded in passing the leaders, and entered the wharves fully a length ahead of 'Dawson and Thompson, the latter having made up his leeway. A grand struggle then took place, and Thompson, with a splendid spurt, gradually drew level with Olsen, and the two, contesting every inch, reached the tongue wharf together, when Thompson, with a great effort, succeeded in crossing the line a few feet ahead. Paterson in the meantime had come with a great run, and was rapidly closing on the leaders, and finished almost on terms with Dawson, who was less than a length behind the second boat.
