OTAGO MODEL YACHT CLUB.
The Otago Model Yacht Club's seventh interprovuicial contest was continued on Saturday afternoon The water again being low m Lake Logan, the events were sailed off at a spot on the harbour side, a little beyond Logaji's Point quarry. Unlike the first day, the water was calm A very light breeze prevailed at first, and subsequently there were calms, so that the Chnstchurch boats during the contest have had opporhimties of displaying their capabilities und°r varied conditions. The afternoon's proceedings were taken i;p with the Intcrprovin^ial Handicap, which resulted in a ■win for Mr P. Findlay"s Thistle .None of tho visiting boats weio m the final heats. The course extended over a distaree of two miles. INTERPROVINCIAL HANDICAP. Open to all ,-yachts but the v inner of the InterprDvmcial Champion =hip. — First prize, trophy, valued 2gs , second pnze trophy, valued lg , third prize, trophy, valued 10s 6d.
First Heat Thi=tle, 2mm, 1 , Rob Roy, 2mm, 2, Waratah, 2mm, 3. Alto competed Searchlight scratch (Chnstchurch), Huon Belle scratch, Toko 2min, Moa scratch, JJoris scratch (Chnstchurch), Waratah scratch (Chnstchurch), Florence 2mm, Au Re\ oir scratch, Vixen scratch. "Dove scratch (Lyttelton), Kia-Ora ljmin (Lyttelton), Alisa 2mm, Kent 2mm. The boats that got the starts were never headed, and finished so closely that it was difficult to pick the winner. The Thistle's time was 23imm
Secoful Heat Au Revoir 1, Vixen 2, Alisa 3. The Kent held the lead up to withm a few yards of the winning post, when =he and the Dove got becalmed. The Au Re\oir and the Vixen got up on the outside of the calm and finished as above The Au ~Ro\oir, which finished 20 yards ahead of the Vixen, did the course in 27mm 40sec FIN 4 L. Mr P. Findlay's Thistle .. .. 1 Mi F. J. Bigg's W.<ratnh .. .. 2 Mr J. M'Phcrson's Rob Roy . 3 All qualified started. The Alisa, Th^tle, and "Waratah did not get far away before they were overhauled by the sciatch boats, the wind being light. The W.uatah led to the winning post, closely followed by the Thistle A dmg-dong race ensued between thefe two hosts, the Thistle beating the Waratah on the post.
Notwithstanding ihe advanced state of the season, over a ton of butter is being in ami factured daily at the [nglewood dairy factory. Ihe company have had a very favourable maiket for its product this season,
