INVERCARGILL RAM AND EWE FAIR. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
INVKRCARGILL, April 2. The annual ram and etve fair was held to-day in the Wallacetown yards, and wps considered most satisfactory. Theie wa3 an unusually laige entry of rams — over 100 more than last year. The entry was chiefly composed of Border Leicesters in both stud and flocks. A oneshear Border Leicester, bred by Mr J. M'Cros,tie, realised 17gs, the top price, others selling at 13gs, 12Jgs, 12g9, and down to 4ge. The demand for this breed of sheep was keen throughout the fair, but Lincolns were quite a dixig in the market. Some one-shear rams, bred by Mr J. B. Sutton, sold at 4£gs, but all the rest were passed in. The stud Romneys were also passed ia. Tn flock rnms the Edendale estate topped the market with Border Leicesters at s\gs, others selling nt from 4£gs down to 2gs. linghsh Leicester flock rams, bred by Mr R. Wright- (Canterbury), sold at from Bgs to 6Jgs. Most of the Lincoln flock rams were not sold, but a few sale 3 were made ?t from 2fgs to lg. Romneys found a fair demand at prices ranging up to 3igs. A few Shropshire rams were sold at ljg and lg, while some crossbred ram lambs from English Leicefiter lams and Lincoln ewes were sold at 15s 9d.
