Monday afternoon. On Tuesday evening the Misses Shand gave a most successful and enjoyable euchre party at their residence at the Uni\erslty Buildings, when about 30 guests v. ere present. On Friday evening a most enjoyable party was given by Mrs Tapley at her residence in London street The nr^-t part of the evening was devoted to a little play acted by Miss Tapley, Miss Beiyl Gardiner (Ade laide), Mr C. Tapley, and Mr Jim Cameron, all of whom acted their parts very well in deed. At the conclusion of the play an adjournment was made to another room, where the remainder of the evenmg was spent in dancing. Supper was served in the dining room, where the flowers were exceedingly pretty. Altogether a very happy c\omng was spent, about 40 gue=ts being piesenl. On Tuesday afternoon a large number of friends met at the railway station to bid adieu to Dr and Mrs Lindo Ferguson and Mi«s Butterworth, who were leaving for Port Chalmers to join the Zealancha for Wellington. After spending a few clny^ in Wellington, Dr and Mrs Ferguson ai d Miss Bulterworth leave for Sydney, w here they join the Orient Company's bteamer Omrah for London. Miss Wright left on Friday for Melbourne via Sydney, ha\ing been sent lor owing to the serious illness of Mrs Wright, in Mcl bourne. Much sympathy was felt by all her friends for Miss Wright having to start on so anxious a journey. Miss J. Watson (Inverc;>rgil!) is paying a short visit to Dunedin, and is «tay.ng wirh her mother, Mrb Roy^o, at her new residence in Queen street Miss Ella Morris returned fiom Invcrcaigill on Friday. Mi-3 and Mjss Cutten returned qn Satur* day from Auckland, having been there to be present at the marriage of Mr Walter Cutten to Miss Elliott. Misp Macclonald (Sydnej) is Siting Mis 9 Stephenson at "Conisborough" at present. Mr and Mrs Fox have gone to live aft St. Clair, having rented Mr Mosman's liou^e for some months. Miss Hitchings (Napier) is visiting friendl in Dunedm at present. Mis? Maud Coleridge (Wellington) is to be married on Wednesday, April 10, to Mr Gor-, ing Johnston (Wanganui), son of the Hon. Walter Johnston. A large number of guests have been invited to be present at the wedding which ia to take place at the Hutt Special carriages are to be attached to the train to convey the guests, who will be entertained by Mr Travers (grandfather of the bride) and Mrs Tra\er=, at their resi dence at the Hutt.
