This being the season for planting bulbs, (Mr Every, secretary of the Dunedin Horticultural Society, requests attention to the following extracts from a letter just received Ifrcm Messrs Barr and Sons :—": — " We have very fenuch pleasure in again offering you a prize for competition, the wording of the prize to Ibe as follows: — 'Special prize offered by Messrs Barr and Sons, seed, bulb, and plant fcierchants, of 11, 12, and 13 King street, Covent Garden, London ; nurseries, Surbiton, fiurrey.' An elegant silver cup or vase, specially designed by H. G. Moon, and value •£7 7s, for the best collection of cut daffodil Jflowers (polyanthus narcissi excluded), to comjprise 40 distinct varieties, of which at least SSQ kinds must be represented by not less than three blooms each ; in any case, not more than tadne blooms of any one kind may be shown. lA.ny foliage, daffodil or otherwise, may be lused in staging."
