UNIVERSITY BOAT RACE.
LONDON, March 30. The University Boat Race was won by Oxford by two feet, after a ding-dong struggle. Time, 22min 31s,ec. The boat lace was io^ed in a strong gu s ty wind, with rain. Cambridge won the tos«, and cho&e the Suney station. The boats passed Crabtree and Hammei smith Bridge on level terms. TTie w ater was fearfully rought to Chiswick Church, where Cambridge led by a length, which was increased to a length and a-half at Barnes bridge, where the water was comparatively smooth. Oxford then spurted magnificently, and drew level again. Cambridge gamely responded, and a ding-dong struggle followed for the lemainder of the course, Oxford winning by two feet. Time, 22min 31scc. Both crews were greatly distressed at the finish. The betting before the start of the lace was 3 to 1 on Oxford.
