DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.
The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club was held last Tuesday, and was Attended by the Hon. G. M'Lean (in the chair), Messrs Taggart, Grindley, Carr, Thomson, Coughlan, Solomon, Yigers, and B. Lock. Apologies were received for absence from Messrs Meenan and Myers. In connection with the St. Denis case on the last day of the Cup meeting, after hearing the evidence of Mr Crossan and his vyit 3ie°ses, it was decided that no further action be taken, and that the stakes in the Farewell Handicap be awarded St. Denis. Dividend? will be paid out at the club's office on application by ticket-holders. The question of J. M'Comb's riding general y at the recent cup meeting was brought up for consideration by the committee, and it was decided to summon him to attend a meeting, the date of which was to be subsequently fixed. It was decided to fence the course from the three-furlong post to the six-furlong post. A letter was received from E. H. Hankins stating that' the jockeys J. Rae and L. Lloyd ihad left his employ without a moment's 'notice, and he asked that the riders' licences be cancelled — It was resolved that the secretary communicate with the boys and make inquiries, and, if satisfied as to their misconduct, thai their riding license? be cancelled. - A lefter was received from H. A. Solomon, owner of Muscovite, asking for a refund of £2, the entry fees paid for the horse's entry in the Maiden Plate and the Trial Handicap, 4B account of the horse not betas allowed to.
run, he having previously v, on the First Hack Handicap, and thereby become ineligible to run for the said races — The letter was received, and the secretary instructed to reply that when the entry was made the hor&e was eligible to start in the mccc, and that the entry fee 3 would not be refunded.
