TABLE TALK.

Monday Afternoon. On Friday evening a most brilliant and successful dance was given at Littlebourne House by the Misses Roberts. About 150 were present, and the hostesses had left nothing possible undone to ensure the enjoyment and pleasure of their guests. The evening was very fine, though cold, and Chinese lanterns, hung about the trees and shrubs, gave a fairyliko appearance to the lawn in front of the house, though it was almost too cold to stroll about. The guosts were received at the drawing-room door by the Misses Roberts, after which they remained in the hall or drawing-room until dancing was commenced in the spacious dining-room, which made an admirable ballroom. The floor was perfect, and _Mr Ya tee's band contributed excellent music, dancing being vigorously kept up till the small morning hours. As the guests entered by a side door, the hall, staircase, outer hall, and verandah (which was enclosed and lighted by Chinese lanterns), besides several other rooms, were at the disposal of the dancers between the dances, and the drawing-room afforded a comfortable resting place for non-dancerf. E\ cry where the flowers were lovely, masses to be seen in all the rooms, and huge branches of green foliage decorating the halls and ball100m. Supper was served in the billiard room, where, needless to say. everything was perfect, the lights in this room and everywhere about being softly shaded with a becoming shade of pink. No fewer than five girls chose this dance at which to "come out" — Miss Cara Graham, Miss Ada Sinclair, Miss Minnie Macdonald, Miss Muriel Boyd, and Miss Gorry, a visitor from Auckland. Each looked charming in her pretty debutante's dress, and though all wore white no two were of the same material. Miss Cara Graham's was a lovely dress of white figured silk, stylishly made with tucks, and the bodice tucked crossways and draped with lace ; Miss Minnie Macdonald wore a charming dress of cream glace silk, both skirt and bodice arranged with graduating tuoks, the skirl edged with small frills and the bodice draped with lace ; Miss Ada Sinclair wore a. handsome white satin dress, the bodire trimmed with pearl embroidered net; Miss Muriel Boyd's dress looked very pretty, being of soft white chine silk, with skirt and bodice tucked and long sash ends, and the bodice softly draped ; Miss Gorry wore a handsome white corded silk dress, made with cross-over bodice draped with lace. On Thursday, by the Talune, Mr and Mr 3 Sargood and family left Dunedin for London, where Mr Sargood joins the business. Miss Amy Mackerras accompanied Mrs Sargocd to London, and a great many friends of both ladies were on the wharf to bid them adieu and wish them bon voyage. " . Mr and Mrs W. The two elder bridesmaids wore white chine sil'c dresses, with tucked skirts and bodices, finished with yokes and sleeves of transparent lace, edged with chiffon, and white hats with turquoise blue.
