THE TEAR.

Red roses were breathing around \is— • I sat by the side of my dear, And into her drumming eye 3 I gazed, — Blue eyes suffused with a tear. I kiss'd the Avhite hands I claspt warmly, I kiss'd her rose-lips^Avithout fear, And looking into her sad, blue eyes, I kiss'd away the tear! There are moments of joy in our lot yet, A moment of bliss here bslov/, That I would not exchange for a thousand years Of a life that was burthened with woe. 'Tis then that we glimpse the high heaven — - See it all shining and clear, , As we gaze in the eyes of the dear one, ' And kiss away the tear! -H. J. B. March, 1901.
