GAMES.

The following interesting game was played in Dunedin between Messrs J. Pimley and F. E. Hilliker in a friendly bout recently . — Game 6059.—" Cross." Hilliker's move.

(a) One evening recently in the Otago Club room we noticed a " Cross " game opened this way between two of the members. "White here went 22 17, and the game proceeded: —15 22 25 18, 9 13, 26 22, 11 16, 24 19, 8 11 31 27, 16 20, 30 26, 11 16, 28 24, 4 8, 32 28, 6 9' 17 14, 10 17, 21 14, 13 17, and the game was finally drawn. (b) There is a nice shot for Black here by 9 14, but White can draw, thus: —

The following well-contested games' were played between Mr J. A. Scott, of Gore, and R. Jordan, world's champion, during the latter's visit to Gore.—-
