LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs W. Dallas (in the chair), J. Duncan, and H. H. Kirkpatrick. The application of John Brown for one acre, being part of 'section 4, block IX, Kaitangata district, was referred to- the -ranger for report. William Hambly applied for a renewal of his license over part of section 51, block I, Rock and Pillar district. — Renewed on former terms, to date from sth January. Mr A. L. Herdman, on behalf of the Idaburn Saleyards Company, applied for an area of five acres on runs 225p and 255g, upon which to erect yards. — Consideration deferred. The application of David M'Connochie, jun., for about 30 acres on the Earnscleugh Flat, adjoining the Earnscleugh station, under an occupation lease was declined. It was resolved that run 17a and section 1, block VIII, Domet district, be offered as pastoral run for a term of 10 years at an upset rental of £25 per annum; ranger to make valuation for improvements. Henry Birley was granted a hand sawyer's and wood cutter's license over 20 acres in Mount Alfred Bush, blocks 111 and IV, Dart district, for one year; license fee £7 10s. Frank Thomson was granted a license to cut firewood over an area of 10 acres at Bay Burn, ■ Upper Wanaka, at a royalty of Is per cord. Whitehead, sections 6 and 9, block XVIII, Maniototo district. The applications of the following to surrender were referred to the ranger for reports. — E. Ward, sections 41 and 43, block IV, Glenomaru district; James Pullar, sections 22 and 28, block I, Woodland district. The valuation for improvements on sections 58, 59, and 62, block V, Strath-Taieri district, was reduced to £9 4s. The valuation of the improvements on run 179—163 and 163 a, —amounting to £269 ss, was approved. The application of Mrs M. Ballingall for a license to occupy section 24 and part of section 25, block XV, Sutton district, was referred to the ranger. A petition was. received from miners at Table Hill requesting that sections 13 to 17, block VII, and 18 and 21, block V, Table Hill district, be withdmwn from sale- under pastoral license. — Request complied with. The application of R. A. and O. Williamson to surrender their small grazing run leases 94 c.t. and 95 c.t., over sections 9, 10, and ' 11, block VIII, Kuriwao district, was recommended for Minister's approval, the board being of opinion that the land was too poor and areas too small to be profitably occupied.
