WELLINGTON, October 7. Colonel Sommerville cables to the Government as follows from Pretoria, on the sth inst: — "Just returned from Barberton.
Our boys all well. Visited the hospitals, and found a number of New Zealanders. All improving. Leaving to-morrow for New Zealand." The* Premiei of South Australia has cabled to Mr Seddon that Lieutenant Bosworth, No. 22 (Trooper Ooffey), and Nursing 'Sifter Ross arrived at Adelaide yesterday by the Warrigal, en route for New Zealand. *
CAPTAIN FULTON INVALIDED HOME. His Worship the Mayor has received the following telegram f romV the Premier : — " I have received the following- cable from the General of Communications, elated the sth inst. : — 'Moravian left Capetown for Sydney,- 27fch September, having" on board Captain Fulton.' "
RECOGNITION OF LORD ROBERTO'S SERVICE. WANGANUI, October 8. At the Wanganui School Committee
■meeting to-night the chairman (the Rev. G. Bond) moved, and it was unanimously earned — "That it be a recommendation, to
the Hon. the Premier and the Minister of Education that it is desirable to raise ai fund throughout the colony, to be called 'The Children's Penny Fund,' with, which to purchase a memento for presentation to! Lord Roberts in recognition of his great' services to the Empire by his achievement's in South Africa, and that all the children attending the public schools be invited to contribute one penny each."
