ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

OHRISTCHURCH, October 3. The entries of atock au Addington to-day weie Jiofc v&i-y ia^e, but the attendance of bujers was good, and generally satisfactory business was done.

Fat Cattle. — The entry was smaller than it has been for .some time, the number yarded being just 100, of rather mixed quality. In consequence of short supply, prices showed an advance on last week's rates. The range of prices was:— Steers, £6 17s Gd to £9 17s 6d; heifers, £5 5s to £7 15&; cows, £4 2s Gd to £7 ss, two extra, good ones being sold for £8 and £10 7s Gd. Best beef realised 23-s to 26s 6d per 1001b. and medium to good 19s to 225. Dairy Cattle. — The pens contained some useful animals, and sales were made at from £3 to £6, .and up to £S 5s for extra good sorts. Store Cattle.— Fair business was done in storo_caii.tle, .among the sales effected being dry cows at £2 10s to £3 10s, and up to £4, land £4 10s for nearly fat ammo-Is. Eighteen months to two-year-olds brought £2 14s to £3 8s Gd; 35 months to 18 anonths old, £2 Ss to £2 11s; cal-ves, £1 12s.

Fat Sheep. — The entry was rather small, but the quality was good, and piiices were maintained at the high level of the past few weeks. Fieezing wethers brought from 19s to 235, and heavy-weights up to 25&; unfinished sorts, 18s 3d to 18s Gd; shorn wethers, 15s 6d to 19s 3d (the latter price being a record for the first shorn .cheep of the season) ; best ewes, 19s 3d to 25=; shorn ewes, 15s 9d to 17s Id; merino wethers, J Is 7d to 20s sd. «

Fat Lambs.— The entry was the largest of the season, 113 being penned. Prices snowed a slight improvement on last week's rates, the range being fiom 10s 9d to 16s 9d.

Stoio Sheep. — Between COO and GOO store sheep came forward, and all lines met with a good demand. The principal sales were 124 hoggtts at 13s 3d, 42 at 13s 3d, 67 at 16s, 50 v. ethers at 17s Id, 63 ewes and lambs (all counted) at lls. v

Pigs. — There was a fairly good entry of pigs, and although many of them were not well finished, both baconers and porkers brought tlightly better prices than the previous week. The range of values was:- — Baconers, 32s to 435, equal to 3jkl to 3|d per lb ; porkers, 20s to 325, equal to 3^d to 4d per lb; suckers and weaners, 4s 6d to 10s. Stores, which receded slightly in value, brought from 10s to 15s, and some of the larger sorts up to 20s.
