THE BRITISH ELECTIONS. MR SEDDON DECLINES TO INTERFERE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.')

WELLINGTON, October 1. The Premier has no intention to join in the proposal which comes from Tasmania suggesting that the colonies should send a joint cablegram to England congratulating Mr Chamberlain on t3ie success of the forces in South Africa, and expressing the hope that the electors of Great Britain will by an emphatic vote ensure that the, fruits of victory shall be effectually secured to the nation. Mr Seddon, in response to communications from Australia on this subject, has replied that New Zealand has already congratulated the Imperial authorities on the 'British victories, and that the inference to the elections appears to -him ,to be out of place. Mr Seddon's announcement in Parliament to-night to the above effect was 'received with " Hear, hear," from both sides of the House.
