The September number- of tho Pall Mall Magazine, though as u-ual artistic and charming, i« more noticeable for its fiction than the intervening articles. These latter deal respectively with the celebrated Hertford House collection 1 ; — most beautifully illustrated — another on Inverary, and yet a third on the London Woods. The one and only paper which grips any practically serious Question is that entitled " Justice to England." .1 formidable array of figures 1 compiled by Holt Schooling, and referring to Mr "Balfouv's speech on Home Rule delivered on June 7. 1399. There i« a beautiful photogravure of " Cupid* Holiday" as a frontispiece. The current number ot country type^ in " Tap Ploughman." The serial story. "Hosts of tho Lord," by Flora Annie Stesle, is concluded in this number, and Ihe various short stories are light and bright. Stone's ABO Monthly Guide and Diary far October is to hand.
