The Sturdy Little Jap.
There's a nice piece of flesh On the old China bono, And the question seems to be who's to get it! Lei me tell you it's a veiy ticklish matter; For there's a Russian and a Frank, A German and a Yank, All going strictly oa their own ; But when the Briton and the Jap Have deteimined how to act, You will see a helter-skelter sort o£ scatter. There's a Frenchman, a German, A Russian and a. ¥ank; But the only man that we can trust Amongst the blooming lot, Is that dandy little friend of oms— The sturdy little Jap. When the Legations were trembling, And their lives were in their hand, And they didn't know how long they had to live ; When Europe breathed in horror, And we thought that they were dead, And we talked about the Boxers we would Mil ; Then the sturdy little Jap sent his men in with a will, And he reached the fiont in time to save the end. But in old Japan to-day, There is majiy a \aeant chair, Where a father and a brother used to sit. There's a Frenchman, a German, A .Russian, and a Yank ; But the* only man among them Who was nearest to the spot Was that dandy little hxencl oi ours— * The sturdy little Jap. There's some talk about retreating; There's some talk of going back — That we ought to make a start where we began. They're in a faiiish sort of fix, In a queerish kind of mix, For they're muddled up ivith one another's plans. But as tar as that's concerned, For the peace of the world, Two people now are one— - The Briton and his little friend the Jap* There's a Frenchman, a German, A Rus&ian, and a Yank ; But the only irsan to see it out Amongst the blooming lot, Was that dandy little fiiend of ours — • Ihe stiucly little J&j>. Theie's a great big Russian bully lv a Noithern China town, Who is drawing veiy close To the lough Corean coast; But he finds the little Jap is in his way. Let the Russian have a care, Or he'll oveistep ihe mark, And he'll strike a lather nasty kind of snag, For as Britons we are free, And we'll let the beggar see That a Russian shall not sifc upon a Jap. There's a Frenchman, a German, A Russian, and a ?ank ; But the only man that we will help Against the blooming lot Is that dandy little friend of ours — ■ The stuidy little Jap.
