Judge Norbury, known as the "Irish Jeffreys," was a member of the Order of the " Monks of the Screw," whoo fame Curran ;is prcideut has celebrated in Ihe famous song of the > .in.o name. NorLury n«i% ne\ er known to r-rquit « prisoner charged v\ith treason, and, his sentences to death were numerous
beyond counting. It was at a convivial meeting of the "Monks of the Screw" that Norbury, espying a tempting dish of meal in front of the president, asked : " Is that beef hung, Mr Ourran? " "Oh, no, my lord," replied the patriot advocate, "you have not tried it."'
