CROCERS' CLUB,
At the annual meeting of the Grocers'* Cricket Club (Mr A. Wright, vico-president, presiding) the report staled that the club played six matches, winning six, and were the first t?am to win the excellent shield presented by the O.C.A. (and to them by Ma=srs ISirg, If arris, and Co.) for Wednesday afternoon, cricket. During the season sui enjoyable day was spent at Milton, where the club won, an exciting- and pleasant game. The play of the club all round was superior to previous seasons. fcSone of the younger members j-howed oooa form. W. Ogg wins the bat presented by Mpfpi-s Strut hers and Scott for the beso batting average v.-ith 17.5, and the came player al-o wins the ball presented by .'.lr S. Smith with the good perfor/r-ance of 3.8. The club is in a good financial position, having a balance of £5 Z'< 6d, besides enough, plant to see them through the incoming season. Reference was mnde to the regret felt nt the death of Mr J. Peters and the removal from the city of Mr Ro^cow. The following office-bearer? were elected for the eiisuiiig y?ar : — President, Mr A. Wiight : vice-presidents — Mf«srs W. Scott, R. Smith. A. Struthers, J. G. Robertson; cap to iv, W. Gollar ; deputy captain, J. W. Instone ; lion, secretary and treasurer, C. G. Broaie; General Committee — Captain, De-puty-captain. W. Ogs> : delegate to Wednesday Association. J. G. Robert ?or>. Xsne new members were elected. Before concluding, the Chr.inr.an presented Mr J. A vote of thanks to the retiring officel>carers and to the chair concluded the burliiCbo.
