OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
A very successful smoke concert was held by the. Otago Football Association at the Provincial Hotel on Saturday evening for the purpose of welcoming home the Otago lepresentative tsam, who were so successful at the late tournament at AuckHnd. Mt Wilson (vicepresident of the associat on) occupied the chair, and apologies were read from Messia S. S. Myers (president of the 0.F.A.), C. P. M. Butterworth, T. S. Culling, and A. C. Hanlon. The Chan man, m a few happy remarks, welcomed the team bask, and in congratulating them upon their success, mentioned the pleasure Association supporters m Olago had at hf-ving the Brown Shield brought to the province once ±nore. During the evening the following toaats were diunk with rnu3ica! honours:—"The Queen"; "The Otago Team," proposed by the Chairman and responded to by Mr D. M'Milkii (captain) and Mr G. M'Millan (manager). The Iptter gave a detailed aeeoimt of the tour, stating that the men gave him very little trouble and behaved well right through. " The O.F A, ' proposed by Mr Salmond and responded to by Mr Stables; " Kindred Sports," proposed by IVh Scoular and responded to by Messrs Hope (Rugby football) and Siedeberg (cricket) ; ' The Referees' Club," proposed by Mr J. Moncrieff and lesponded to by Messrs W. Smith pnd T. Scouiar ; " The Ladies," proposed by Mr R. Nagle aad lesponded to by Mi R. Aimsttong; "The Chairman," piopo=ed by Mr J. MoncucA', "Our Boys in the TraiiSvaal," piopo&ed by Mr Stables and responded to by Mr Hiddlcston ; '■ The P.anist," proposed b,' Mr G. M'Millan; " Wallic Cowan," pioposed by the Chairman, -vho speke of the great sei^ices rendeied the team by thai, gentleman while on tour; and "The Press" (c-pscially the Ota^o Daily Times for then full leports of the northern mrtohes). During the evening soi^s were rendered by Messrs J. L Salrnond, G. M'Millan, D. M'Millan, G. Dcdd, W. Morrison, LI. Aimstrong, J. Moncrieff, S. Biown, B. Wyatt, G. Calclcr, and G. Matthew?, while Mess«-s C. A. Stables and T. Hiddleston gave recitations. A vety successful and enjoyable concert was brought to a close shortly pfter^ll o'clock by chc singing of " Auld lang syne."
