LONE ON, September 12. Captain Benson and Wilcox, with levies v attacked the fetish town of Edesie, but many of the Akinese deserted, and Captain Eensou was shot. Major Mellis, with a column of troops, has devastated the country to the southwest of Kumassi. He counted hundreds of headless skeletons along Sir F. M. Hodgson's line of retreat from the capital.
