LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Wednesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland l (chief commissioner), W. Dallas, J. Duncan, H. Clark, and H. Kirkpatrick.

Rangor Hughan forwarded a reroort on sections 13, 14, 15, 17, block VIII, and IS and 21, block V, Table Hill. — To be grouped and offered under pastoral lease for 14 years at upset rental', of £14, with valuation for improvements £135.

It was decided to recommend the following in Crookston district for notification at a capital value of 73 6d per acre: — Sections 49, block I; section 51, block I; section 16, block XV; section 7, block XVI; section 10, block XVI. It was decided to allow Donald Williamson valuation at the expiry of his license for fencing to be erected on the eastern boundary of sections 9, 10, and 11, block IX, Kuriwao district.

A statement of proposed expenditure of thirds and fourths by the Waitaki County Council for the period 31st January, 1900, to 31st March, 1900, was approved.

The application of Melbourne Barratt that the capital value of section 5, block VI, Woodlands district, be further reduced, was declined.

The following applications were referred to the rangers for reports : — E. G-. Gray and James Bidgwell for a lease over section 46, block 11, Hillend district, ilanuka Island; F. T. Williams, for a license to occupy section 18, block XIII, Blackstone district.

It was decided to take steps to recover rent (if not paid within 14 days) due on section 51, block X, Pomahska Downs estate, held under lease in perpetuity by James Jackson.

Assistant-ranger O'Neil reported on section 49, block I, Warepa district, bush and quairy reserve.— Clutha County Council to be asked if any portion, of the section is required to be retained as a quarry reserve. Mrs A. G-ooctsir applied for a further reduction in the capital value of section 6, block V, Woodland district. — Declined.

John Williamson renewed his application for sections 30 and 31, block IV, Tautuku district.— Declined.

Jas. M'Henry was granted a license to cut firewood and posts and fails over a small area on Glacier Creek, Dart district.

An application from Alex. Smith for allotment 14a, Barnego settlement, as a rural land was approved, and an application by Jane Furse for section 4, block VIII, Woodland district, as a vilage homestead allotment was also approved.

The transfer of Run 17f, Marawenua district, from Elizabeth M'Quade to Win. Baily was approved, and an application to transfer section 22, block IX, and section 5, block X, Kuriwao district, from Alex. Chalmers to Jane Chalmers was referred to the ranger for report. Tho subdivision of section 25, block VIII, Catlins district (held under lease in perpetuity), horn W. F. Henderson to R. S. Barratt was recommended for the approval of the Minister of Lands.

The application of John Wiestra to complete purchase of section 15, block VII, Tarras district, was approved.

Chas. Dore wrote requesting that the reserve at Nenthom be put up for auction if the license held by the mining committee waa not renewed. — -Consideration defeired.
