TEE WOOL SALES. LONDON, May 21.

The wool sales are brisk, and prices fii-ly maintained. j May 22. j At the vrool sales the " Robinson" clip 'realised 8-|d'and the " Kapixtoni " ll|d. May 23. At the wool sales there rras good general ' competition. The top prices realised were : i"Tapara," 7d; " Glenure," 8d; "Avondale," B|d ; " Glencoe," 9d. May 24. -At the wool sales there was fair competition. Prices are unchanged. The Owenga 1 clip realised 7^d. j At yesterday's sales a small selection was offered, but prices were extremely firm,.

The wool sales have closed. There was strong competition, but prices were unchanged.

Compared with March the closing rates ■for good merinos declined 5 per- cent., faulty 10 per cent., fine crossbreds 5 to 7-| per cent., medium and low crossbreds 5 per cent. During the sales 138,000 bales were catalogued, of which 69,000 were sold for home consumption, 50,000 for the Continent, and 3000 for America, while 166,000 ■bales were carried forward. The arrivals for the fourth series is 154,000 'bales, while 38,000 were forwarded to manufacturers. The quantity available is 283,000.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. have received the following cable from their London office, dated the 19th inst.:. — "Wool sales have closed very firm, with an occasional improvement on opening rates."

Messrs Dalgety and Co. have received the following cablegram from their London office dated 25th inst. : — "'Wool sales have closed without further change. Out of the net quantity available for sale — 288,000 bales, — some 69,000 bales have been nold for Home consumption, 50,000 for* the Continent, and 3000 for America, leading 166,000 bales to be carried forward -to the next series. Compared with the closing" rates of last series, greasy merino and fine crossbred wools are lower by 7^ to 10 per cent. ; greasy medium and coarse crossbreds, by 5 per cent. ; and scoured wools in general, by 10 per cent. For the fourth series of wool sales in London the list of arrivals is closed. The total number of bales available is 280,000 lales."" -

•Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cable, from their London office : " "Wool — The sales closed this day. Since close of lasl sales greasy merino super., fine greasy crossbred, and medium scoured crossbred are Id to l^d per lb lower ; greasy merino medium and inferior and coarse jjcoured crossbred are £d to Id lower ; medium 1 greasy crossbred is- id lower ; coarse greasy crossbred is par to lower ; fine scoured , crossbred, medium to good, and inferior I scoured merino is lJkl to 2d lower ; super ' scoured merino is 2cl to 3d per lb lower."
